    Medicaid is a program that is funded by both the state and the federal government. The Utah Department of Health administers Medicaid but the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) determines someone’s qualification. Medicaid helps people with low income receive health coverage. Although Medicaid is a program meant to help people cover their medical bills, only certain groups of people qualify to receive Medicaid. 

    Who qualifies for Medicaid in Utah?

    To qualify for Medicaid in Utah, you have to be a resident of the state, be a citizen, a permanent resident, or legal in the United States. The group of people who may qualify for Medicaid is low-income pregnant women, parents, and caregiver relatives, low-income adults with and without children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. Have in mind that when you apply for Medicaid, you will need to abide by the rules of the state and the state’s program. In addition to this, you must qualify for Medicaid every month to continue with the coverage. 

    How to apply for Medicaid in Utah?

    If you believe you might qualify for Medicaid, there are three ways you can apply. You can apply in person, by mail, or online. Once the Department of Workforce Services receives your application, they will determine your qualification and may contact you in case they need additional information.
